Fall 2020: This has been weird, right?

Hey there my cohorts! How are you all holding up? I know this semester has been so different for so many of us. I have had a full schedule with two classes online before and that was challenging but to now have all of my classes online seems so crazy. I have to admit it is going fairly well, maybe because most of my classes are some what easy considering it's my first semester at ASU. I think listening to The Mindset audio book by Dr. Carol Dweck has actually helped me keep my cool this semester. If you complain a lot like me or are a bit of a negative Nancy than I suggest that you read or listen to that book. It discusses the fixed and growth mindset and how beneficial the growth mindset is to learning. Well I hope this semester is going well for you all. If not reach out to me and maybe I can offer some suggestions on how to get the most out of your learning online. And for my PC TRAin cohort: Blogs and Discussions are due Thursday!

Student Mentor Fall 2020: *PC TRAin Blogs are due today and every Thursday*

Hey everyone! I hope your proposals are coming along nicely. I just want to say to not stress or over think this. Definitly get your resources in, but know that your are not an expert so you may make mistakes and that's ok, mistakes help us to learn. And variable tables can be tricky, most people struggle with them the first few times, so don't beat yourself up about it. As always remember to blog, and know that your blogs can be your proposal or what ever you are currently working on. It helps to keep track of your project and should make writing your final report much easier. Always check out the discussion blog in canvas! Not only is it a grade but it can be a place to get and share ideas! Richard had shared a wonderful resource that you may find helpful, so please check it out! Good luck my friends and reach out with any questions you may have.

Student Mentor Post Fall 2020: **Remember PC researchers! Blogs/Discussions are due every Thursday 😁

Hello my fellow TRAin Scholars! My name is Maria, some of you know me some of you don’t and I want to take this time to introduce myself. I am a current TRAin scholar at ASU’s West campus, I am majoring in Applied Computing specializing in cyber security with a minor in Mathematics. I graduated from PC this past spring after completing four full semesters in the TRAin program. I worked on two and a half research projects. Two biology based projects and one app building project. I had the awesome opportunity to work under Dr. Cotter, Joshua James, and Matt Haberkorn. While I am not currently conducting research at ASU, I am here to support you through your research! If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask me, chances are I had the same questions or went through a very similar experience. Even if you just want to talk out your stresses or frustrations I am here and I definitely understand! I am a married mother of two boys, 9 and 10 years old, and a full time student, all while conducting research! It can be a lot and I am here to help so once again feel free to reach out to me. My email is mar2447081@maricopa.edu you can text me at (480) 294-1715 (text first, I usually don’t answer numbers I don’t recognize). I look forward to chatting throughout the semester and good luck with your research!   (Image: https://memegenerator.net/instance/64363194/internet-grandma-surprise-assignment-due-thursday-say-what-now )

Student mentor post: You guys!!!! Good news

Hi my fellow TRAin scholars! I am so excited. I am now done with two classes. I just finished my discrete mathematics class today! I’m beyond happy and relieved to have an A in such a challenging class. Time is on my side now. I have three assignments due tonight in my CSC240 so I am so grateful to have the time to focus on that now. I still have my Hispanic Film class but it is way more of a treat than coding so I think the rest of my semester is going to be great. I hope things are coming together for you my friends! Hope to see you all soon ☺️ Enjoy this picture of Kitty

I have taken many classes at PC so if you’re struggling talk to me, I am happy to share notes and insight. Stay safe guys! Please stay in if you can ❤️

Fall 2019: Finals week

Here we are, we have arrived at finals week. I just want to say good luck on all of your exams and papers. Well I heard we are having a get together this Tuesday afternoon (12/10) and I hope that I get to see my fellow cohorts before winter break. Please come if you can. In other news I have a ton of work to do for my project, so I’ll be busy typing and organizing some data. If I don’t see you before the break, enjoy your break and happy holidays! Hope to see you next semester!
