Hi guys, so field trip day was a semi success. Our ball shooting robot broke after 10 minutes or so. Luckily David was handy with a custom built RC car we brought with us to entertain the kids. We had 3D models handy as well so it went as well as it could considering our predicament. There was really around 5000 kids and educators there too! Back to my project this week. I have finally begun to understand how xcode works and I am also getting way more comfortable with Matlab so I'm feeling really confident that I can get what I want done this semester. I'll keep you all posted.

Fall 2019: Field Trip Day!!!!! Yaaaayyyyy!!!!
Hello friends!!! I'm sure you're wondering what field trip I'm going on? Well I am going to help spread the love of science and Robotics at the Arizona Diamondbacks Field Trip day at Chase field. I had no idea that such an event existed but I'm so thankful it does. Kids from all over the Valley, from several age groups, and backgrounds will be bussed in to Chase field where they can spend all morning visiting different vendors and educational stations. The main focus of this whole event is STEM. The photo above is of the robot that the kids will be able to play with. I personally did not build this robot, it was built by a member(s) of the PC Robotics club. I'll fill you all in next week.

Fall 2019: research, more research, and a new IDE
So I am off to a slow start research wise but the semester is in full swing! I helped to run STEAM clubs table in the morning session of FOI day (Fields of Interest) and then helped, as much as I could, to run Garden clubs table. The event was a huge success and I hope they continue to run it. The picture I shared today is of my boys enjoying all of the awesome rocks, minerals, and geodes that the geology department had to share. Where am I at with my research? Well I’m trying to figure out a new IDE, Xcode. I originally worked with eclipse and I am currently learning MATLAB so learning Xcode for my project is taking me awhile. Wish me luck guys cause I’m gonna need it!

Fall 2019: New semester, new project
Hi guys! The summer went by so fast and I can’t believe we are already right back into homework and research. So this semester I am flying solo, which is kind of terrifying but also probably a beneficial change. I will be helping with in the field data collection on the Bat-mon project but I will also be building my long anticipated “Ratbot”. I am hoping to incorporate Java into Ratbot’s programming but I think I have lots of research ahead of me before I can really move forward with that aspect of my project. Can’t wait to get started!

Week 14 Spring 2019: STEAM Club field trip and Metro tech
Today STEAM Club went on a wonderful field trip to Estrella Mountain Community College. We recieved an amazing lecture by the Biologists there and then we went on a tour of the burrowing owl dens. We were fortunate to see two owls, possibly 3. They were adorable. This is my last blog till fall so thank you all for following and if you are interested in the project we will be presenting for the last time this semester at metro tech high school next Thursday from 330-530. Have a wonderful summer ❤

Tonight two of my colleagues, Kassandra and Amanda, and I were awarded The Ursa Student Leadership Award. I am so honored that Dr. Cotter nominated me. It feels amazing to be recognized for the hard work that I do for our amazing research project and STEAM club. I am dedicated to my work and I feel so lucky to be part of the amazing community that is Phoenix College. Thank you to Dr. Cotter for mentoring me and believing in me! And also a big thanks to the whole bioscience department Josh, Matt, Amber, and Dr. Chapman for helping to run this amazing TRAIN Program at PC. You guys are amazing ❤️

Week 12 Spring 2019: finishing up
So we have just a few weeks left to collect the rest of our data. Today the rest of the team is doing SEM analysis on our disks and tomorrow they will be finishing up our remaining FTIR samples. Unfortunately I won't be in the lab tomorrow due to Good Friday my kids have no school. I'm sure the team will have some awesome results. I'll share what I can.
